Shot this with my Canon HV30 using a Raynox 250mm Macro Lens. Just a sneak peek of a project I’m working on, Coffee Porn. Slowed it down by 50%. Thanks to Ezra’s Pound in Toronto for the beans and to Presso for the machine and the Porlex grinder. Damn you, corner drip! Damn you!

The Presso got a really nice review and a big thanks to our faithful Presso people (Bob Ostrow and Christopher Manogue) who gave us a heads up that this bit of PR might put a dent in our USA inventory.

The orders are coming in fast and furious and we are excited to say we have a shipment on the way direct to Marine City Michigan.

We have been hugged by the Tree. I have just discovered a couple of great reviews and commentary on the Presso. Tree Hugger reviewed the Presso along with 8 other coffee makers in September.

Thor and Social Coffee

A big thanks to Slavko for treating Jason and I too a couple of bags of coffee from Thor in Toronto. It seems fitting that our friend we made from social media would bestow such a lovely present on us.

Presso and Crema – no modification required

Years ago Jim Schulman posted an article online detailing what he described as Presso’s “fatal flaw”. At the time Jim posed that to achieve good results from the Presso, a modification to the piston was required to fill the air pocket which forms inside the cylinder when making a shot.

For the record, it is not necessary to modify the Presso in any way to achieve great tasting, rich shots of espresso replete with crema. If the coffee is freshly roasted, ground right before making a shot and to the right degree of fineness (not too fine) then you’ll be well pleased with the results.
